A New Name
Around 1934, Ole held a contest to find a new name for the business. The entry he chose is his own - LEGO. The next series of designs included mostly animals - like the classic LEGO roll-along duck. These designs were a lot more complicated, and often required jig work from a pattern. The patterns were drawn by Ole himself. These designs were produced until 1958. Ole expanded the range to more complex wooden designs. Around 1950, there were so many wooden toys being produced that even today's LEGO Group would not be able to catalog them all. There were cars, trucks animals, sailboats, tractors, cranes, farm implements, coat hangers, doll buggies, sewing machines, bagatelle games, traditional wooden blocks, chalkboards, board games, and an abacus.
